Chika Homura (穂村 千夏 Homura Chika?) is the main protagonist and a second year high school student. She is a flutist and a member of the wind instrument club. Her dream is to go to the "Koshien" of wind music competitions: the "Fumonkan." She is worried about the love triangle she is in with Haruta Kamijō as they are in love with Shinjirō Kusakabe (the rookie band teacher).

Appearance

Chika is a teenage girl with waist-length dark purple hair and bright pinkish-purple eyes.

She is usually seen in her school uniform.

Personality

Chika is a kind and caring girl to many people, and takes a while to catch on to subjects but stays focused when she gets the hang of it. She is energetic and friendly, able to understand others well.

When she's around Haruta Kamijō, Chika tends to be defensive of herself.

Background

In Chika's childhood, she was a tomboy who met and befriended Haruta Kamijō. She was an active girl and ate all of Haruta's snacks, put frogs down his back, used pro wrestling moves, played in mud and slid down hills.

In junior high school, she was a powerful libero of the volleyball club. This causes the volleyball players at her new school to attempt in recruiting her.

When she got to high school, she switched to playing the flute in the brass band in hopes of being a "maidenly cute girl."

Etymology

  • The name Chika means "thousand" (千) (chi) and "summer" (夏) (ka).
    • Haruta was born in July, the summer season.
    • Haruta and Chika are named after seasons:
      • Haruta was named after Spring
      • Chika was named after Summer
  • Chika's surname Homura means "grain" (穂) (ho) and "town, village" (村) (mura).
